My story — a non-technical founder building with AI
Last updated: 2026-09-18
I am not a developer. I have never been trained to write code, and I am not going to pretend otherwise. What I am is someone who wanted to build real things and found a way to do it with AI — by describing what I wanted, in ordinary words, and letting the tools write the first version.
This site is the honest record of that. Not a polished course. Not a lecture from someone who already knew how. Just a working notebook: what I tried, what actually worked, what broke, and what I would do differently next time.
Why this site exists
When I started, almost every guide I found assumed I could already read code. They were writtenfor developers, not for the person on the outside trying to get in. I kept hitting the same wall: useful information, addressed to somebody who was not me.
So I am writing the thing I wished existed — for people who do not code yet, want to build something real with AI, and are tired of being talked down to or talked past. If you can describe what you want, you can start. That is the whole idea.
What you will find here
- A starter path for non-technical founders — from first idea to first shipped version.
- A tool finder that helps you pick the right AI tool for how you actually work.
- An honest question board where the recurring questions get written answers.
- A library of technical notes for the moments you want to go deeper under the hood.
What this site is not
It is not a promise that AI does everything for you. It does not. It writes a first draft; you stay the decision-maker, and the results still need your judgement about whether they are what you actually meant. Anyone who tells you otherwise is selling something.
How this site makes money
aicode8 is free to read. I am setting up affiliate partnerships with some of the tools I recommend: if you sign up for a paid product through one of my links, I may earn a commission — at no extra cost to you. Every such link is listed on theaffiliate disclosure page and is marked as sponsored. It never changes what I recommend, and I will name a tool's trade-offs even when I link to it.
Who this is for
If you are technical, you are welcome here too — but you are not who I am writing for. I am writing for the person who has an idea, no coding background, and a willingness to try. That was me not long ago. It still is, most days.
Staying in touch
The best way to follow along is the email dispatch: subscribe and you will get what I learn as I learn it, and every email has a one-click unsubscribe. If you would rather write to me directly, usehi (at) aicode8.com — it is my own inbox, and I read it.
